Get To Know Me
Hi, I’m Sammy!
I’m a Speech-Language Pathologist with a big heart for helping others step into this field with clarity and confidence.
My journey started at the University of Alabama, where I majored in Communication Sciences and Disorders and minored in Nutrition (yes, I love a good balance of science and self-care!). I went on to earn my master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Nova Southeastern University, and trust me, the road from undergrad to SLP was anything but easy.
While in grad school, I worked full-time as an SLPA, primarily with children who were nonspeaking, medically fragile, and often with a primary diagnosis of ASD, CP, or Down syndrome. That experience sparked a deep passion for AAC and gave me hands-on insight into the real-world challenges clinicians face. Later, during my hospital externship, I completely fell in love with the medical side of our field, especially dysphagia. I became obsessed with understanding it, treating it, and helping others feel more confident navigating that space too.
Fast forward to now: I graduated in May 2025 and accepted my dream job, splitting my time between a hospital setting (working with patients across the lifespan) and a pediatric private practice supporting kids of all abilities and diagnoses.
Getting here wasn’t a straight path. There were plenty of highs and lows, moments of self-doubt, and late-night study sessions, but every step taught me something valuable. That’s exactly why I started Speeching with Sammy — to help future SLPs navigate this journey with more support, strategy, and less stress.
Whether you’re applying to grad school, prepping for the Praxis, or figuring out your next steps, I’ve been there. And I’m here to help.
